We drink a lot of coffee. 587 million cups per day for Americans. That's quite a few cups that are going right into the garbage. This is also a pretty easy zero waste lifestyle switch. Instead of getting that coffee in a disposable cup bring your own.
I use a reusable, ceramic coffee cup for warm coffee and a mason jar for iced coffees. Easy peasy! If you want to go a step further and also save money, since we spend about $1000 a year on the addicting stuff, you could start brewing your own at home. Use a french press to avoid filters or buy some reusable coffee filters here for the coffee maker you already have.

Hi! I was wondering: I use a moka pot to make a cup of coffee in the morning. It doesn't need filters and it's made of stainless steel. Is that in the same range of a french press?
ReplyDeleteHi Tyche! They are similar. Moka pots have a much finer grit than French presses thus producing a stronger brew.
DeleteI've used a reusable coffee cup since the early 80's back when they were called Commuter Cups, they wouldn't fit in a cup holder because cars didn't have cup holders! They would ride on your console (or the top of your car) without tipping over.
